APA is looking for a Treasurer!

The APA is seeking an accountant to be our state-wide union treasurer. Here is a run down on the position and what we are looking for in a candidate:

The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records of all receipts and disbursements for the APA. This role involves monitoring financial accounts, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing monthly financial reports to both the State President and the State Executive Board.

  • Stipend: $350 per month
  • Supervision Received: Reports to the State President and the State Executive Board
  • Supervision Exercised: Oversees the Membership Coordinator

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field required
  • Possess and maintain current accounting and finance credentials
  • Be proficient with spreadsheets, reconciliations and accounting software (ADP preferred)
  • Eligible to be bonded by MTA

Duties

  • Hold and manage APA funds, ensuring disbursements align with budgeted authorizations.
  • Maintain monthly payroll for State Executive Board members.
  • Work with an independent auditor and MTA accounting personnel to prepare the annual financial statement for APA membership.
  • Keep accurate records of all receipts and disbursements, ensuring payments follow an agreed-upon schedule and are completed no later than 60 days after the final due date.
  • Obtain a counter-signature from the President or Vice-President for any disbursements exceeding $1,500.
  • Keep the President and Executive Board informed of the APA’s financial condition and assist in drafting the annual budget.
  • Complete and submit reports required by the Secretary of the Commonwealth, the Department of Labor, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Certify the accurate roll of membership with assistance from the Membership Coordinator.
